The genes of baldness discovered
An international team has demonstrated that the presence of two genetic variants multiplied by seven shows the risk of baldness. Two studies were published in the scientific journal Nature Genetics.
Researchers looked at about 5, 00,000 sites on the genome, respectively 1125 and 296 men suffering from baldness in Europe. This common form of baldness called "androgenic alopecia (AGA)" is an inherited disorder in 80% of cases. Hair loss starts in the temples, forehead and top of the skull. Although it is more common in men, also affect women.
