An Anti-Inflammatory Drug May Prevent Lung Cancer
A study recently published in the United States has demonstrated that anti-inflammatory, specifically prescribed Celebrex from Pfizer for the treatment of arthritis, prevents the development of lung cancer in smokers. It would reduce, indeed, the levels of a biomarker, an indicator of risk of lung cancer by blocking the enzyme COX-2.

The studies were conducted during six months on 212 heavy smokers, divided into two groups, one taking equivalent doses of Celebrex 200 mg twice a day, the second dose of 400 mg twice a day. The anti-inflammatory would have decreased the cellular changes warning of lung cancer, particularly in the group ingested 400 mg of Celebrex twice a day. Taking high doses reduce the protein Ki-67.

However, this study must still be confirmed in the months and years ahead. Do not declare victory too soon. Continued ...
